INSTA Windows Question & Answers
Are the Euro windows suitable for office container conversions?
Yes. Euro-style windows are a popular choice for office and accommodation container conversions because they offer a clean, modern look and efficient operation. When combined with insulation and HVAC, they help create a bright, comfortable interior similar to a conventional office space.
Do your windows come with security screens?
Security screens are available as companion products for our 4x3 window models. Our 3x3 window model comes with an integrated security screen. These screens add a heavy-duty barrier on the exterior while still allowing light and ventilation.
Can windows be installed in insulated walls?
Yes, windows can be installed in insulated container walls as long as the opening is framed correctly and the insulation is properly trimmed and sealed. The installer should take care to maintain vapour barriers and weather seals around the window frame. The installation guide provides recommended techniques to keep the wall system weathertight after cutting the opening.
What is the difference between the 3x3 and 3x4 window models?
The main difference is the overall size and viewing area: 3x3 windows are smaller and work well in tighter spaces or where wall space is limited, while 3x4 models provide a larger opening and more natural light. Each size has its own product number, frame dimensions, and associated accessories like screens and drip plates. The choice usually comes down to how much light and openness you want in the container room.
Are drip plates necessary for window installations?
Drip plates are highly recommended because they help direct water away from the top of the window frame and reduce streaking and potential leaks. While a window can technically be installed without a drip plate, adding one improves long-term performance, especially in rainy or snowy climates. For high cube applications, matching drip plate extensions are available for the different window sizes.
What tools are required for installing container windows?
Typical tools include a tape measure, level, marker, metal cutting tools for the opening (such as a plasma cutter, grinder, or metal cutting saw), and a drill. Sealant and fasteners are also required to properly secure and weatherproof the window. The installation guide outlines the cut-out dimensions and install process for each window model. Remember to always wear your PPE.
